How hard is EOTS

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Hey, Jason here. Got a rant I need to let out. Hungryfreak‘s battlegroup, hordeside, loses EOTS a lot. Way too much for my liking. I don’t see how they can be so dumb actually. At the beginning, we often lose Fel Reaver ruins because no one wants to stand there and wait for it to cap. Maybe they don’t know that we cap faster if we have more people standing in there, but they should definitely figure out that losing FR early blows hard.

Then they like to fight in the middle of nowhere which is exactly what you should do, if you’re up 3 bases to 1. If you need to cap a base, you can’t do that unless you’re in a base. Rocket science?

So you’ve got people who are stupid and you’ve got people who suck. Like if I am at say 50,000 damage, 40,000 healing – how could there be a hunter lower than me on damage? I spend at least half the time healing even though I am specced and geared for ret because…

Horde needs healers badly in BGs. Alliance always seems to have twice as much healing as Horde. I don’t get it.

Death forge questing – tough but nice drops

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Hey Jason here. I don’t play much these days, but I did take a few hours recently to do some Death Forge quests. They were yellow to me but I hope they are red to anyone who’s not a pretty well geared 70 because I died twice trying to take Hungryfreak through.

I’m not complaining though. I went in there twice. The first time I completed a kill quest for 11 gold, picked up 2 greens, 2 fel armaments, 3 marks of sargeras. Plus there is some nightmare vine, adamantite, and fel iron to be found around Shadowmoon. Oh and 2 stacks of netherweave plus all mobs drop silver.

The second time I was did kargosh and the summoning chamber for 11 gold a piece. While doing them I also found Ced’s carver, 2 of lunacy, a couple of greens, 3 stacks of netherweave, and about 25 marks of sargeras. At first I thought the lunacy card was a very lucky drop, but that deck seems to be one of the least desired…

But depending on what I get for the carver and the lunacy card (and the 4 greens which I’ll prolly have disenchated and the fel armaments) I’d say I easily made over 100 gold per hour and it was more fun / challenging than grinding or just herbing and mining.

But unless you’re 70 with decent gear or in a group I wouldn’t do these quests. I had a 10 gold repair bill (died twice), burned 5 or so healing pots (though I picked up a few more), burned a fel blossom, etc.

Sunwell staging area pvp

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Hey everyone, Jason here, blogger #2 for killing AF I guess. My toon is Hungryfreak and I recently went to the Sunwell staging area for the first time.

I don’t intend to instance or raid – I only play an hour or two a week now – just wanted to check out the environment and stuff. Once I saw the crazy Alliance gank squads in action I went seraching on Youtube and found this:

As for my experience, I was buffing up right outside the quest area amidst all the guards when a priest starts attacking me with shadowword pain and the like. Now I have 380 resilience (though I was carrying Gorehowl instead of my pvp sword so it would have been a little lower and 10,000 health so there was no real danger and the priest gave up. I would have gone out to meet him but he had a hunter friend waiting for me to do just that.

A few minutes later I was doing some of the Sunwell quests when I saw an AF rogue try to gank a Horde hunter. I enter the melee and the hunter dies and the rogue vanishes at about 10%. The hunter is a prick and whispers me why I didn’t heal him “Can I get a heal, jeez”. Because I’m not a healer douche. Why didn’t you trap him or wing clip him or something?

By the way, I am not one of those retnewbs that never heals. In a BG I like to be in the middle on the damage and healing charts – I heal until the AF attack me and then I mess them up. It’s just that in this case the hunter was getting whipped and my heals are fairly weak (no +healing) and I felt like cleaving the Gnome rogue’s face a bit.

Anyway, later I see the same rogue sitting over by the guards eating. I run over there and kill him before the guards get me. I whisper the hunter to let him know.

A few minutes later that same rogue and 2 friends (hunter, priest) are running around ganking individual hordies. I try to save one warrior but we both end up dead – we’re just outnumbered and not coordinated. He whispers “All you had to do was blessing of protection me”. Maybe but it’s too late to find out now.

I see on the local defense channel that there’s a 4 man gank squad on the road so that hordies can’t pass to turn in quests or whatever they do over there.

BY the time I gave up there were about 30 AF and 5 horde guys. Thought maybe it was a raid but there were several different Alliance guilds so I kind of doubt it. I just wonder if it’s fun to always have the advantage since AF only want to play when they outnumber Horde…

So in one hour I died twice (once the guards killed me and once the 3 man gank squad), completed 2 daily quests, killed a couple AF (that rogue and I ganked one or two others when I was able to catch them alone) and found 2 green 68 items. It was fairly fun but would have been better if the pvp action was a bit closer to even numbers on both horde and alliance.
